TAA Compliance

We are asked from time to time if our products are TAA Compliant.

Yes. TAA Compliant computers from General Technics Inc are assembled and engineered or substantially transformed in the United States or a designated TAA country. These rugged and industrial computers meet the requirements of the United States Trade Agreements Act (TAA) of 1979.

What is the Trade Agreements Act?

It is a law that requires the US Government to only purchase items that originate from an approved country. It only applies above a specific threshold value, and that threshold varies depending on the type of purchase. It is aimed at preventing the purchase of high-value goods from certain counties not approved by the TAA. The US government maintains a list of countries and their TAA approval status. Some notable approved countries of origin include Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, and Mexico. Notable countries that are not approved include China, South Africa, Iran, North Korea, India, Russia and Cuba. However, these lists are not complete.

As the US General Services Administration says: The TAA limits the country of origin for products sold through your Schedule contract. In general, this means the following may be sold:

  1. Articles that are wholly the growth, product, or manufacture of the U.S. or a designated country, or
  2. Articles that are “substantially transformed” in the U.S. or a designated country into a new and different article of commerce with a name, character, or use distinct from that of the article or articles from which it was transformed.
A man considers buying fresher local produce or imported produce, to illustrate why buying American designed and engineered computer hardware is the smart decision.
Choosing American engineered products from General Technics is the smart decision.

How does our TAA Compliance benefit you?

Our products are completely compliant under the TAA. We are an American business, and our products are assembled and engineered on Long Island, New York, and occasionally in an approved TAA country. Because we “substantially transform” the products in our facility, we have complete control over the quality.

This means that if you buy for the US government, you can be sure you are adhering to this legislation whenever you purchase from us.

But even if you’re not a US government buyer, you can still be assured you are getting top quality engineering and service, and that you’re supporting US jobs and industry.

If that sounds like the kind of service you’re looking for, we would love to talk with you. Call us today at 1-800-487-2538 or drop us an email at sales@gtweb.net.
