Configured Systems

Configure the Exact System Your Application Demands

Every application is different, and the rackmount controllers that run them should be, too. At its core, a rackmount controller allows you to control a PXI or PXIe system from a desktop, workstation, server, or laptop using an MXI or MXI-Express connection. However, selecting the right rackmount controller for your needs is an important decision. We help customers consider factors including:

  • Space requirements
  • Performance demands
  • Budget
  • Noise
  • PCI/PCIe slots
  • Future flexibility
  • Customizable connections

With your specific requirements, we can create, test, and deliver the exact controller for your application.

When would you choose a 1U system?

These 1U rack servers are ideal for when rack space is at a premium. The power consumption of a 1U controller is lower than that of larger servers. They can be used for applications requiring anything from basic entry-level value systems through high performance servers.

  • Ideal for small space constraints
  • Power consumption is lower than larger servers
  • Powerful server features
  • Two 2.5″ internal and four 3.5″ external drive bays
  • Easy to upgrade and adapt over time

When would you choose a 2U system?

A 2U rack server offers a step up in size and performance from a 1U server without a significant increase in cost and consumption of space. 2U rackmount computers have the capability of using a standard ATX & uATX motherboard. A 2U chassis allows for better airflow using larger and more powerful cooling fans resulting in higher heat dissipation out of the chassis. They allow for multiple  expansion cards using riser cards or up to 7 low-profile expansion cards while keeping a compact form factor and also providing some additional storage space.

  • Ideal for small spaces
  • 20.5” deep
  • Lockable front panel
  • Four internal, shock-mounted 3.5″ hard drive bays
  • Three full-height card slots available on standard chassis
  • Integrate up to seven low-profile PCI cards with additional options

When would you choose a 3U system?

The main advantage of a 3U rackmount computer is that it is more competitively priced than other form factors. They use Micro ATX Motherboards and support 4 add-on cards. 3U Servers allow for larger, quiet fans which will offer a near silent operation. Their short-depth design accommodates space critical applications.

  • Ultra-quiet controller
  • Largest capacity for a system its size
  • Very short at only 16” deep
  • Supports up to five removable drives, a slim optical drive, and three internal drives
  • Adaptable case
  • Optional Filter Kit

When would you choose a 4U system?

A 4U rackmount computer can accommodate extensive expansion slots, allowing for multi-GPU Support systems. Their flexible configuration has the potential for higher graphics and processing performance and high I/O compatibility.

  • 17.7” deep
  • Shock-resistant drive cage
  • Flexible for industrial applications used in short racks or travel cases
  • Three 5.25″ external bays, one 3.5″ external bay, and one internal 3.5″ drive bay
  • Lockable front panel controls
  • Adaptable case

When would you choose a single board computer (SBC) ?

The 4U SBC offers flexibility for expansion as they can provide up to 14 PCIe/PCI slots. A single board computer is ideal for applications that require maximum I/O throughput. The longer lifetime of SBCs allow for greater system longevity.

  • 4U rackmount backplane chassis
  • 14 PCI/PCIe slots
  • 7″ tall
  • Three 5.25″ external bays, one 3.5″ external bay, and one internal 3.5″ drive bay
  • Lockable front panel controls
  • PS/2 ATX form-factor power supply

When would you choose a small form factor?

A small form factor computer is extremely compact, highly portable and energy efficient.

  • Smallest full-featured chassis
  • Ideal for small-space applications
  • High-capacity 3.5″ hard drive

When would you choose a desktop controller?

A desktop controller is perfect for applications that need performance but don’t require a rackmount form factor.

  • Case is optimized for performance, cooling and expandability.
  • These systems use the latest Asus H470 or Supermicro X11 motherboards featuring the Intel 10th Generation Intel processors or Xeon E3-1200v6 CPUs.
