The latest in a new series of adaptable cases, the J3630 [black] and J3160 [beige] have the features that your business depends on.
Though only 3U high, and 16 inches deep, it supports up to five removable drives, a slim optical drive, and three internal drives.
This gives it the largest capacity for a system its size.
And with the included ultra-quiet fan, and a "silent" power supply, it is also the quietest in its class.
This small chassis supports any micro-ATX board and up to four full length PCI cards.
There are two USB 2.0 ports on the front IO panel.
The lockable door protects drives and controls, and opens wide enough for any style removable drive.
Mounting for a vertical slot-loading slim optical drive is standard, freeing up valuable space for other devices.
The standard system comes with two 5.25" bays, and one 3.5" bay, but many other combinations are possible.
To keep hard drives healthy and cool, three unique internal mounts suspend them in the path of fresh air flowing through the system.
You can also add an extra 80mm fan for additional PCI cooling.
Customize your system with six removable panels for additional IO or silkscreened logos.
See the mechanical overview drawing for more details.
Nearly Silent Operation:
If not for the power LED, you would have to put your ear right next to this system to tell if it were on.
It features an AcoustiFan™ 120mm "Ultra Quiet" case fan.
Even at maximum speed, this amazing fan runs below a whisper at only 24.7 dBA.
But, when throttled by the system board, it will cool the system inaudibly, below 10 dBA.
See the Acousti Products site to read reviews and details about this unique fan.
Coupled with a "silent" Seasonic power supply, rated at only 22 dBA, this system is among the quietest available.
This makes it ideal for workstations, home theater, and DVR applications.
Smart Add-On Options:
Removable Air Filter Kit:
Dust build-up can reduce the effectiveness of heat sinks, clog cooling fans, and lead to failures.
Protect your system from dusty environments with the RK637 filter kit.
Five-Bay Drive Cage:
The RK638 turns drive accessibility on its side, allowing you to mount up to five removable drives without sacrificing space for an optical drive.
It is perfect for server management, and large-capacity DVR applications.
Drive Bay Cooler:
If your removable drive frames lack built-in fans, consider the life-extending benefits of a drive-bay cooler.
The RK636 forces cool air through the bays, keeping your hard drives cool.
Incredibly Short at Only 16":
When rack depth is limited, this chassis is the ideal solution.
At only 16 inches deep, it is well suited for home theater applications, and can even fit comfortably in road cases.
And its narrow width of only 16.8 inches allow the use of ball bearing rail slides for easy rack installations.
Drive Bay Configurations:
The standard chassis is equipped with two 5.25" bays and one 3.5" bay.
But, many other combinations are possible when "low-profile" bays are used.
("Low-Profile" bays are the same width as 5.25" bays, but only 30mm high.)
All configurations below include room for a vertically mounted, slot loading, slim CD/DVD drive:
2 5.25" bays, 1 3.5" bay:
Standard setup - the 3.5" bay comes in a vented adapter for hard drives, card-readers, or any other 3.5" bay device.
This configuration is shown below with a floppy drive installed.
2 5.25" bays, 1 Low-Profile bay:
Storcase® DE75 removable hard drives can be mounted directly into these low-profile bays.
CRU Dataport® DPLP removable drives can also be mounted using RK624/RK625 brackets.
1 5.25" bay, 2 Low-Profile bays:
This setup allows for two removable drives to be mounted, with a full size optical drive.
4 Low-Profile bays:
Now it is possible to mount four removable hard drives in a short 3U, without losing a DVD±RW drive!
Choose from Storcase® DE75 or CRU Dataport® DPLP low profile removable drives.
5 3.5" bays:
Five fixed hard drives, or other 3.5" bay devices can be mounted vertically, when the RK638 5-Bay add-on kit is ordered.
A drive-bay cooling kit, RK636, is recommended when multiple hard drives are mounted.
Up to 5 Removable 3.5" Drives:
Up to five CRU Dataport® DPLP removable drives can mount directly into the RK638 5-Bay add-on kit!
A drive-bay cooling kit, RK636, is recommended when multiple hard drives are mounted.
Also, if SATA connectors are limited on the system board, consider using a RAID card to support the additional drives.
RK637 - Air Filter Kit
Protect your system from harmful dust build-up which can cause overheating and failure.
Dust and particulates cling to heatsinks, clog fans and blowers, and can damage components.
Adding the air filter kit provides a simple and effective solution.
After installation, the filter trays simply slide into place, covering both air intakes.
To replace the filters, simply open the door, and slide the trays out again.
When ordered with a new system, the filter kit will be pre-installed.
For retrofit installations, removal of the front panel is necessary.
Additional filters are available in white or black.
RK638 - Five-Bay Drive CageWhen four removable drives just aren't enough, the standard drive cage can be easily replaced to support five instead.
And there's still room for a slot-loading slimline optical drive, giving you unmatched storage options in a 3U system this short.
This unique configuration includes five 3.5" drive bay adapters for fixed hard drives or 3.5" bay devices
(see assembly guide for more details).
For removable SATA drives, up to five CRU Dataport® DPLP™ low profile drive carriers can be mounted directly to the frame without any additional hardware.
When mounting multiple drives with either drive cage, the RK636 Drive Bay Cooler is recommended.
RK636 - Drive Bay Cooler
When multiple hard drives are mounted in the bay area, this kit will keep them all running cool.
Fresh air gets pulled in through the vents on the door, and is ducted around the hard drives.
An extra blower forces this air out a via a dedicated exaust port on the rear, while recirculation of warm air is prevented.
With the drive cooler installed, we filled the bays with five 750GB Seagate drives mounted in CRU® DPLP™ removable carriers.
After 48 hours of constant reading and writing, none of the drives reported a temperature greater than 53°C.
The kit works with either the standard, or 5-bay drive cage, and should be installed prior to the system board.
