Computer Systems
Overview
This document outlines all the parts you will need to design your own state of the art computer system. Links to photographs and data-sheets are also available for many items.

Cases are available in two styles: Desk Top Cases and Tower Cases. The desk top case can have the monitor on top and will be in reach for easy access to the drives. The tower case can go on the desk next to the monitor, or on the floor along side your desk. This format allows you to free up valuable desk space. Each case includes 7 card slots (4 slots for the micro ATX), a LED's for hard drive, and power, push button power switch, and reset switches. Included is a switchable 110 or 200 vac UL/CSA approved power supply. The desk-top and mid-tower cases both have a 235 watt power supplies. The CS155 micro-ATX tower is beige with a 300 watt power supply, and the CS167 micro-ATX tower is black with a 250 watt power supply. The full tower ATX case has a 300 watt power supply.

MB740 - Intel® DG43NB Classic Series Desktop Board
The Intel® Desktop Boards DG43NB Classic Series is built in ATX form factor, supporting a range of processors
including the Intel® Core™2 Quad and Core™2 Duo processors with 1333/1066/800 MHz system bus in the LGA775
package. This board can support up to 4GB of dual channel DDR2 800/667 SDRAM memory. It also offers enhanced HD
Video playback, Intel® High Definition Audio with support for 5.1 surround sound, integrated 10/100/1000
Network Connection, ample USB ports and IEEE 1394a to deliver a greater digital entertainment experience.

MB700 - Intel® DP35DP Media Series Desktop Board
The Intel® Desktop Board DP35DP Media Series in the ATX form factor delivers improved performance
and capabilities for multimedia creation and enjoyment. It has support for Intel® quad-core processors and Intel®
Viiv™ processor technology and is Microsoft Windows Vista Premium Ready. The MB700 features 6 SATA ports
for incredible storage, 12 USB ports and 2 FireWire ports for multiple connection to consumer electronics and peripherals.

Since this board is targeted towards media and high-end graphics applications, it has no on-board video support. So, be sure
to include a video card with your system.

MB705 - Intel® DG33FB Desktop Board
The Intel® Desktop Board DG33FB Classic Series is built in the ATX form factor, supporting a range
of processors including the Intel® Core™2 Quad processor and Core™2 Duo processor. This board can
support up to 8GB of dual channel DDR2 800/ 667 SDRAM memory. It offers Intel® High Definition Audio
with support for 5.1 surround sound, Intel® PRO 10/100/1000 Network Connection, up to two 1394a ports
via back-panel & header), and ample USB connectors for full flexibility in computing paraphernalia for
today's demanding entertainment, education, and gaming applications.
This board offers four SATA ports for hard drives in standard configuration.

Operating System Software
The operating system software is used to enable the computer to do useful work. It sets the personality of your system and allows programs to operate. Windows 2000 or XP takes great advantage of your Pentium class processor. It takes the place of the older DOS and Windows with a more graphical, easy to use interface. Note Windows OS are available on CD-ROM only, a CD-ROM drive is strongly recommended but not required for General Technics, Inc. to install. Windows 2000 and XP offer true 32bit multi-tasking to support dual processors and dedicated business applications. The Redhat LINUX operating system, which includes everything you need to set up any number of Unix-like workstations, file or print servers, an intranet platform, an X-Windows multimedia desktop, or a complete Web server. LINUX is supported on the internet via news groups, "FAQs" and "How To" guides. A great starting point is the Redhat Web Site. Please note: Redhat technical support is limited to installation only and a working knowledge of Unix is required.

Our OEM agreement with Microsoft requires us to sell
any of the above Microsoft products with, at a minimum, a hard drive
or mother board.
All color monitors have controls to support full screen, non-interlaced video, full controls and a tilt and swivel base. A data sheet is available for each monitor.

Multi-Media
Available now in 52x speed CD-ROM. The multi-media kits include an internal CD-ROM drive, the latest in multi-media software, a Creative Lab PCI Sound Card, and 8" high amplified speakers. The part numbers of the included parts are listed below the kit description. Any of the individual components may be installed separately such as a CD-ROM Drive, or Sound Card with speakers.

Fax / Modem
A Fax/Modem will let you expand the boundaries of your computer, giving you the opportunity to explore the internet, and and oun-line services around the world. Network
Windows 2000 and XP computers can be easily networked to share each other computer's files and printers. A network Hub is required to connect each computer. Up to 8 computers can be connected to a central hub using twisted pair wire. Additional hubs may be connected using one of the ports. If only two computers will be connected a simple crossover cable can be used from the first computer to the second. Please ask for more information on our crossover cables.
